Organization
*Refer to your child’s middle school (Pacific Cascade Middle School, Pine Lake Middle School) website for dates
Attend Pacific Cascade Middle School WEB and Lynx Days!
6th grade WEB day
Students will get a tour of the school and meet their WEB leader who will be supporting them.
Lynx Day
Students are assigned lockers and combos, books, P.E. clothes, and a list of their classes (this does not include their full schedule or teacher names).
Attend Pine Lake Middle School TCOB and Compass Days!
Taking Care of Business (TCOB) Day
Students are assigned lockers and combos, PE clothes and other school supplies like planners, goggles, etc., turn in health information forms, buy a yearbook, add $ to their lunch accounts, etc.
Compass Day
Students will have a chance to meet other new students and their compass leaders, get a campus tour, and ask questions.
Attend Curriculum Night in September
Watch the weekly bulletin for dates. You will go class to class just like students do each day. It is a great way to learn more and become familiar with what your child is doing at school.
Both PLMS and PCMS have a great 6th grade team of teachers and staff who are excited and ready to help make the transition successful.
Canvas
Parents can still be involved with organization, checking grades, and managing homework.
The middle schools will use the learning Platform: Canvas that will list all schedules and assignments.
The first week, teachers explain what the students will need for their class, so it is best not to buy a bunch of school supplies ahead of time.
Skyward: Student and Parent Access and Canvas
In addition to Canvas, you can also check grades and missing assignments on Skyward. Some parents include this in their daily/weekly routine.
*Tip – download the Canvas and Skyward Family Access app to keep on top of your student’s work!
Middle School News and Updates
Check your email and sign up for the weekly bulletin to get all the info for incoming 6th graders.
You can also look at the school website:
Phones and Technology
Check your school’s cell phone policy.
Life balance with technology/media use, will be important for the success of your middle schooler.
