Mustangs and Robots, Sunny Hills Introduces Engineering

Students at Robotics Competition

For the past 12 weeks, Sunny Hills third, fourth and fifth graders participated in an after-school Robotics Club called FIRST LEGO League (FLL) led by SAGE/PEP teacher Sarah Shero. Students gained real-world problem-solving experiences and engaged in hands-on STEM, building confidence, growing their knowledge and developing habits of learning. Our 4 teams engaged in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering – building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates missions and a research project which solved a relevant real-world problem. Last Sunday, the 4 teams (Star Spangled Cyborgs, Retro Robots, Techno Terrors, and Lightning Bots) participated in the Regional Qualifier Tournament with 30 other teams from around the area. This club was made possible by a generous grant from the Sunny Hills PTA.
