Welcome to Sunny Hills Elementary School! Sunny Hills is a diverse, inclusive and kind community of life-long learners committed to fostering a strong sense of belonging for all our students in order to support their academic, personal and social growth. We are glad that you are a part of our special learning community! At Sunny Hills, we are fortunate to benefit from a state-of-the-art facility on a beautiful campus and outstanding learning resources for all our students, but it is the people who make our learning community so special and unique. From the committed and compassionate educators who make up our staff to the engaged and supportive families who partner in the education of our students, and most importantly, to our incredible students themselves, Sunny Hills is made great by the people who call our school home. We look forward to continuing to build this community together this school year!
As we prepare for the 2023-24 school year, following are a few important dates at Sunny Hills to keep on your calendars:
- Enrollment Verification Process (EVP) Online: August 7-13
- First Day of School, 1st-5th Grades: August 29
- First Day of School, Kindergarten: September 1
- Curriculum Night: September 14

Vision Statement
We, the Sunny Hills community, will challenge our students to maximize their ultimate potential through a continued commitment to program excellence. We will help them utilize the basic tools of learning to develop their talents, abilities and self-confidence. In our ever-changing world, students will need the skills to become lifelong learners, creative problem solvers and effective communicators. We will encourage them to enhance their lives through academic pursuits, effective human relationships, fine arts appreciation, and recreational activities.

Student expectations include:
- Respect each individual, even if that person’s identity is different from your own.

- Take responsibility for your words and actions.
We all have a responsibility to report behavior that interferes with having an equitable and inclusive learning environment that honors and respects people of all identities. If you become aware of any actions that violate the expectations above, we encourage you to speak up through one or more of the following ways:
- Tell a teacher, staff member or other trusted adult immediately.
- If you are comfortable and safe doing so, speak up in the moment to encourage more equitable and inclusive talk or action, and/or support those being hurt.
I acknowledge that I am on the Indigenous Land of Coast Salish people who have reserved treaty rights to this land, specifically the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe (sdukʷalbixʷ). I thank these caretakers of this land who have lived and continue to live here since time immemorial.
